It’s hard to keep up with what Volvo is doing with the S60, but they are definitely doing something to their sedan! For a while now, they’ve had plans for a performance division with the help of Polestar, their racing partner.
This is clearly the pre-production version of the S60 R, featuring most likely an AWD setup like the Polestar C30 and a turbocharged straight-six. However, we don’t have any more information that has been leaked.
Volvo has already unveiled the S60 Performance Project last year. It was actually the brainchild of Volvo Car Australia, who has pulled in the engineering might of Polestar and Heico to create this one-off S60.
That car offered 325 horsepower and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque, representing an increase of 25 hp and 29 lb-ft (40 Nm) of torque. This puts it on par with the likes of the Opel Insignia OPC and Audi S4. However, Volvo knows how to pull massive amounts of power from a T6, so don’t be surprised if this is actually a 400 hp car like the rumors suggest.
