We all know that China is a booming market and we also understand the carmakers' desire to launch more and more vehicles in the country, just as an effort to benefit the most from the local buying power, but we don't really think that selling a Range Rover for $121,000 is actually a smart decision. Because yes, it seems like the new Range Rover Evoque, which will go on sale in China this year, will be priced 800,000 rmb, which means it could be as expensive as a Q7. Or less, if you choose the entry level configuration.
But according to China Car Times, the decision has already been made, although no official announcement has been released by the parent manufacturer.
The Evoque however is expected to be much more affordable in Europe, as it will be produced in the United Kingdom and will compete against very popular models, some of them already on sale.
The car will be powered by a 2.0-liter Si4 turbocharged engine with direct injection and twin variable valve timing, developing a maximum power of 240 hp. Performance figures are not yet available, but we do know that it will be offered with a new Adaptive Dynamics technology that benefits from MagneRide continuously variable dampers which maintains a comfortable and safe ride no matter the weather conditions.
Feature highlights include ll-wheel drive with electronically-controlled Haldex center coupling, plus a number of other features such as hard drive navigation system, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry system, Surround Camera System with five digital cameras, including a reversing system for easier parking. Adaptive headlamps with auto headlamp dipping and heated windscreen will be offered as well.
