Peugeot UK has officially announced pricing information for the smallest new offering on the market, the 108 mini, or city car. Unveiled in Geneva less than two months ago, this brand new hatch will be available to British customers from £8,245. That's a bit steep, but the French have engineered a lot of upscale feature and design.
Four familiar Peugeot trim levels will be available – Access, Active, Allure and Feline. There's also two engines and a brand new model called the 108 Top! Cabrio, so plenty of choice there.
The base 108 Access can only be ordered as a 3-door. Standard features include LED daytime running lights, remote central locking, USB/aux connection for external audio players with steering wheel-mounted controls, six airbags, ESP stability control and two rear ISOFIX mountings.
The 108 Active is where things really get serious. It comes with color-coded door handles and mirrors, air-conditioning, height-adjustable driver’s seat, 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with DAB digital radio, Mirror Screen and Bluetooth. We think you can't really buy the 108 without these everyday features, buy you'll have to pay £9,495 to get one.
The Allure and Feline models is where things really get scary with the sticker. You'll have to be a hardcore Peugeot fans to ignore the Ford Fiesta, Britain's best selling car, and play £10,995 or £11,845, respectively. The top-spec car does, however reward you with leather upholstery, chrome door handles and mirrors and automatic dual zone air conditioning.
So what about the Top! Cabrio? That starts at £10,345 for the 1.0-liter Active three-door. It's one of the cheapest ways to get the wind in your hair, so it's definitely worth a look.
The all-new PEUGEOT 108 will be officially on sale in the UK from July 1st, which means you have exactly one month to decide if you want this or the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo.
