No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevy Unveiled

It's the unveiling season for NASCAR teams, with the new livery on the models for 2011 already being presented since late last week. After Shell-Pennzoil and Penske Corporation presented the No. 22 Dodge on Friday, Jeff Gordon's No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevy was unwrapped today.

The car wearing the Drive to End Hunger is the result of the partnership signed between the organization and Hendrick Motorsports back in October. For the next three years, Jeff Gordon will be driving the Chevy in the Sprint Cup, showing the world both the Drive to End Hunger logos and the drama that millions of older Americans go through each day.

“Of the nearly 51 million Americans who face the threat of hunger every day, nearly six million are seniors who must make the heart-breaking decision between a nutritious meal and other necessities,"
said Gordon.

"By combining the power and generosity of the NASCAR community with such a deserving cause, we can make a difference in this country and solve this problem."

As announced since October, Gordon's role will not be limited to driving on the ovals in his newly painted car. In a more active role, the NASCAR champion will become the spokesperson of the program.

"We have a unique opportunity to harness a hugely popular sport and drive attention to a problem that too often goes unnoticed,"
said Jo Ann Jenkins, AARP Foundation president. "We're thrilled to join with Jeff to shine a light on the causes of hunger in this country and work with his team and millions of fans to end it."
