With the launch of the new Pulsar, Nissan now brags with the most complete line-up in the company’s history. Entering the C-Segment, the Pulsar is a new proposition that makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show this year.
The Japanese company has been on the rise for the last 12 month. Over the course of the last year they launched no less than 12 new models, looking to cover every possible segment, niche and whatever else you can think of. Furthermore, their production facilities in Russia, the UK and Spain are now working overtime to cover the rising demand.

However, the Pulsar is probably going to be one of their best sellers. The design of the car shows a car that has a sporty feel to it and impressive dynamic capabilities. There’s even going to be a NISMO version that’s going all out on the performance front.

Plenty of new technology included

Don’t think that this will be just a cheap, entry-level model either. The car will be fitted with the latest technology available from Nissan and it will even introduce some new ones to the car scene.

These include the Safety Shield system together with Moving Object Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Warning. The Around View Monitor will also be included to prevent damaging your new car together with Forward Emergency Braking and the NissanConnect infotainment system. Up front, LED headlamps will be available as an optional feature .

Three engines will be available at first

The Pulsar will be the car with the longest wheelbase in its segment, measuring 2,700 millimeters (106.3 inches) between the axles so it will also need powerful engines onboard. The 1.2-liter DIG-T petrol engine will be the least powerful model available, putting out 115 HP and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque.

Coupled to a manual six-speed transmission, the performances are decent for this segment, with a 10.7 second sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) and fuel consumption rated at 56.5 mpg (5 l/100 km) on a combined cycle.

There’s a diesel as well, the usual 1.5-liter dCi being the culprit here. Making 110 HP, this plant was designed to be fuel-efficient, not fast. That means that the Pulsar equipped with this engine will return an average fuel consumption of 3.6 l/100 km (65.3 mpg).

The top of the range engine will be the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder DIG-T one, making 190 HP. Reserved for the higher-spec models this will be the most powerful unit that you can have on the Pulsar. At first, only manual 6-speed gearboxes can be ordered but Nissan claims that an automatic Xtronic is in development, to be launched next year.
