Next Generation Audi RS4 Launched in 2010

Audi launched the new generation A4 back in 2008 but the German brand hasn't also introduced the sportiest model of the range, the RS4. However, it might seem like Audi is getting ready to introduce the RS4 as soon as next year, with the 2010 Geneva Auto Show likely to host the official unveiling of the car.

4wheelsnews.com reports that the 2010 RS4 will likely be powered by a V8 engine that would generate around 450 horsepower, a 30 horsepower boost compared to the previous model. Additionally, the car will feature larger air intakes as well as a sportier bodykit improving both the appearance and the aerodynamics.

As said, the car is likely to be launched at the Geneva Motor Show but rumors are hinting to a closer release date, probably at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. It will compete with BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG and Lexus IS-F.

The latest RS4 was officially unveiled in 2006 and came in three bodystyles, sedan, avant and cabriolet. It boasted a shorter wheelbase, widened track, lower ground clearance, redesigned single-frame radiator grille featuring additional air intake scoops, a new spoiler and several other luxurious interior components. The 2006 model was powered by a 4.2-liter engine that generated 420 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 317 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm.

Thanks to this powerplant, the car could jump from a naught to sixty in 4.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 155.3 mph (250 km/h). In case you're interested about fuel consumption, the RS4 eats 20.6 liters of gasoline every 100 kilometers (11.4 mph) in city conditions and 9.3 l/100 km (25.3 mpg) on the highway.
