Even though German tuner MTM works on Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Lamborghini, KTM, Spyker and Porsche, it has a soft spot for Audi.
The founder of MTM was actually an engineer on the team developing Audi Quattro’s famous five-cylinder in-line engine and in 1990 he went on to found his own company, MTM, which stands for Motoren Technik Mayer.
So what’s new in MTM’s Audi range? A new styling and performance package for the Audi RS6 sedan. Just to remind you, the factory RS6 is not exactly low on power. The car has a Lamborghini V10 under the hood that unleashes 580 horsepower and 479 lb-ft. of torque (650 Nm). But it seems that’s not enough for the folks at MTM.
Called Clubsport, the kit features adjustable MTM springs, a carbon fiber diffuser, a front lip spoiler, and black 21-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. Interior goodies include a roll cage, carbon fiber Recaro seats, and six-point safety harnesses.
Performance-wise, the Clubsport received a revised ECU, a high-flow air filter and a stainless steel exhaust system. Due to these modifications, the biturbo 5.0-liter V10 engine is pushed to 720 horsepower at 6,360 rpm and a maximum 579 lb-ft. of torque (785 Nm), constant between 2,750 and 6,280 rpm. 0 to 60 mph takes 4.1 seconds and the speed of 124 mph (200 km/h) is reached in 14.5 seconds.
Depending on which tire compounds are used, the Clubsport’s top speed reaches 173 mph (279 km/h), 180 mph (290 km/h), 193 mph (310 km/h) or 211 mph (340 km/h). That is a long way from the standard RS6's limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
