The 2014 Corvette Stingray first saw the light of day in January, right before the Detroit Auto Show. There, they hung one up on the wall and presented a cool little cutout of the chassis. Then came Geneva in March. There, General Motors revealed the Convertible version of the car and said it both it and the coupe were coming to Europe.
With production pending, GM took one last opportunity to show off the C7 twins in Frankfurt. We already know what they're going to cost but most potential customers will enjoy taking another lingering look at the 'Ray.
The new seventh-generation Corvette will be available at dealerships across Europe this fall and pricing for the Coupe will start at €69,990. That's a lot more than in the US, but the optional Z51 has been fitted as standard to ensure every car sold in this unfamiliar market performs well.
The new Corvette Stingray will be powered by the 6.2-liter V8 coupled to a 7-speed manual transmission with active rev matching. The engine provides 460 hp and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque at 4,600 rpm with the performance exhaust.
We believe the Convertible will go on sale some months after the coupe, with an early-2014 sales debut likely.
