Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant is hiring 175 additional employees to help build the 2015 Transit, the company's brand new van which is scheduled to go on sale this summer in the United States.
Meanwhile, the Blue Oval welcomes nearly 1,000 employees that have already been hired to at the Kansas facility, which will also start building the 2015 F-150 pickup truck in the first quarter of 2015, making Ford one of Missouri's top employers.
The 2015 Ford Transit will replace the Ford E-Series, America's best-selling van for the past 35 years, when it reached showrooms later this year.
The vehicle will be offered as a van, wagon, chassis cab and cutaway, with a choice of three wheelbases and three roof heights. Engine options will include a 3.7-liter V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and a 3.2-liter inline 5-cylinder Power Stroke diesel unit.
