Remember Elio, the half-trike, half-car vehicle which got a motorcycle license exempt in Michigan past November, despite being referred to as a motorcycle? Well, you'll get to see this vehicle in person at CES 2014.
Elio will showcase their vehicle in the ShowStoppers area of the CES. The arrival in the North American market is scheduled in Q1 2015, and the manufacturers claim they already have no less than 6,342 reservations. Now, since a pre-order only means a $100 deposit (€73), it's little wonder that so many people are willing to try this 3-wheeler.
This reverse trike is expected to offer 84 mpg (2.8 l/100 km) on the highway and 49 mpg (4.8 l/100 km) in the city, making it a great alternative to big cars.
Elio will be available for around $6,800 (€5,000) and 5-star safety rating is expected. An electric version will most likely follow, too, as the manufacturers say the interior will be acoustically-insulated for a comfortable experience with electric motors.
