A Disturbing Road Rage Fight Incident Recorded by Rider's Helmet Cam

I showed this video to some riding buddies and was happy to see that they agreed with me in saying that this rider acted in a rather smart way. Once you know the camera is rolling, you've got a very strong ally on your side, so cautious actions might yield a better outcome.
The story, as reported by the rider, begins with the driver getting unnerved by the fact that the motorcycle overtook him. The elderly man claims that the rider cut him off, but subsequent talks reveal that he is no longer upholding the claim.

Even worse, the man seems to become a bit confused and acts very strangely, hinting medical/mental issues, DUI or, as a friend indicated, "shock after picking up a fight he understands he can't win".

Violence against a rider's girlfriend can lead to a savage beating

It was indeed surprising to see that the conflict did not escalate to a very serious confrontation, especially as the driver violently pushes the rider's girlfriend. The young lady was trying to cool things down a bit and prevent things from becoming worse, so seeing the driver acting the way he did creates several nasty scenarios in the mind.

If anything, a guy on the street that turns violent with a lady who's a passenger on a motorcycle, would put himself in quite a lot of danger, on any day. I don't even want to start thinking how many other "short-fused" riders would have reacted in these circumstances.

As for the first punch, if you've ever spilled with your bike while wearing a helmet, you know that a simple blow will have no repercussions. Still, in this situation, being punched twice could have raised the adrenaline (and the pulse) to the point where the rider would consider "engaging the battle mode".

And when it comes to wearing a helmet and going a bit berserk, some of you know how much damage helmeted headbutting deals. Once more, the aggressive driver seems to be oblivious as to the danger he was in...

His eyes tell a weird story

As the rider decides to confront his assailant and pins the driver to the ground, we witness scenes that seem to be inspired by the LOTR movies, with Gollum changing between two blinks of an eye.

There is definitely something wrong with the driver, but it looks like it's going to be the police, the doctors and the court to pinpoint exactly what.

Until then, however, it looks like a guy being calm knowing that his camera is rolling and a couple of punches in the helmet can't do any harm is a better thing than a snappy one. Take care!
