2014 Jeep Cherokee to Gain Fiat Diesel Engine in Europe
Currently at the Shanghai Auto Show, where the new Jeep Cherokee made its Asian debut, Manley told Automotive News that the mid-size crossover SUV will arrive in Europe in third quarter 2013 equipped with a Fiat-sourced 2.0-liter diesel engine.
Already used by the Italian automaker on the Fiat Freemont mid-size CUV, the turbocharged 2.0-liter Multijet comes in two flavors, with 138 HP (103 kW or 140 PS) and 168 HP (125 kW or 170 PS) respectively. The European 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be available with the gasoline 2.4-liter “Tigershark” four-cylinder as well, but it looks like Old Continent customers won’t get the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 unit.
In other related news, US sales of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee will start in the second quarter.
