The 2014 Jeep Cherokee created quite a stir when it was leaked and then officially previewed, mainly because of its not so traditional styling.
Nothing wrong with trying to push a crossover SUV up the popular scale with an extreme design, we've seen that strategy being used by other automakers as well, but word has it (damn, we're so mischievous) the new Jeep looks like it's sucking lemons.
After giving us some time to get used to that "love it of hate it" feeling, Jeep decided to come out of the box and explain the Cherokee's shocking design, which they think it's actually "very contemporary".
"When you contrast it to the outgoing Liberty…I think it’s a huge departure, obviously from the previous one,” Chrysler design chief Raplh Gilles told WardsAuto. "But it’s also going to be seen as very current in the way that Jeep has evolved its aesthetic to a very contemporary place. That was very much a purpose for us."
Well, it may be very contemporary, but the new Cherokee led to a lot of debate and Jeep purists seem more angry than impressed. Just saying...
