Japanese automaker Honda is trying really hard to make the minivan popular once again in the US with its new Odyssey.
Redesigned for this week's New York Auto Show, the 2014 Odyssey promises to greet its customers with a "host of safety upgrades and innovations", including… drum roll please… the HondaVAC in-car vacuum, a first in the automotive industry.

Resulted from a Shop-Vac and Honda collaboration, the HondaVAC system runs on the car's electrical system and can be used for up to eight minutes after the vehicle is turned off. Thanks to its integrated hose, the vacuum cleaner is guaranteed to reach into every corner of the Odyssey's cabin for quick cleanups. Neat, huh? Needless to say, the HondaVAC will be offered as standard only on the range-topping Touring Elite version

"The Odyssey is already the leader in its segment, and for 2014, Honda has made the modern family hauler even better," said Michael Accavitti, vice president of marketing operations at American Honda. "Honda is once again showcasing its reputation for innovation with HondaVAC, and its ability to provide true value to our customers."

The Odyssey's new design includes restyled front grille, lower fascia and headlamps, LED taillamps, revamped side mirrors, as well as new aluminum hood and fenders. The interior gained a redesigned center stack, new trim finishes and a bunch of new features, including HondaLink infotainment with smartphone integration, HD radio or Push Button Start.

With no word from Honda on powertrains, we can assume that the new Odyssey will be using the same 3.5-liter V6 engine and its 248 horses.
