Just last month, we talked about the brand new Audi S3 Sportback which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and a few months before that the new three-door S3 was shown in Paris. Today, another variation of the number of doors has been revealed. The four-door S3 Sedan has made its debut at the New York Auto Show.
Not surprisingly, the Audi S3 Sedan is power by the same 2.0 TFSI engine that makes 221 kW (300 hp) and 380 Nm (280.27 lb-ft) of torque. And not surprisingly at all, only a few differences separate the 4- from the 3- and 5-door models.

The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 4.9 seconds with the S tronic and 5.3 seconds with the manual gearbox. Simply put, if you want to race a hatchback, your skills will make the difference. The electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph) is just a formality.

The powerful four-cylinder engine features two balance shafts rotating at twice the speed of the crankshaft for tremendous smoothness. An electromechanical sound actuator at the bulkhead brings the engine sound to life in the cabin. The exhaust system also includes a sound flap that opens at certain engine speed ranges to give the S3 a sportily sound.
This is a brand new TFSI designed specifically for use in the S3. It has an exhaust manifold is integrated into the cylinder head, where it is bathed in coolant. It's also lighter by about 5 kg (11 lbs) than the previous engine.

The S3 Sedan will make its European debut a few months after the A3 Sedan, which is marked for a summer dealer launch. North American customers won't be so lucky, as they'll have to wait until mid-2014 to buy it.
