2012 Nissan Sunny Unveiled in China

The new appetite Japanese manufacturer Nissan has developed these past two years for models which wear the “global” in their official description led to this week’s presentation of the new global sedan in the carmaker's lineup. For most of the world, the global sedan phrase can be translated through Sunny.

The new Sunny was presented today at the 8th China International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou, in preparation for the official market entrance in China early next year. Following the local launch, the model will expand to no less than 170 countries worldwide (using different names), thus following in the path laid down by the Micra since the beginning of this year.

The new Sunny is powered by a 1.5lr HR15DE engine with dual injectors and a new-generation Xtronic CVT with an auxiliary transmission. The performance figures for the model have not yet been announced.

In addition to the aforementioned powertrain, the Sunny is also equipped with MacPherson struts, used for the front suspension, and a torsion beam for the rear suspension.

For the local market, the global sedan will be manufactured locally, at the Huadu Plant (Guangzhou), operated by the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture. The official market launch of the model was not announced, but when it enters the market, the model will be sold for prices in between 1.04 million - 1.41million yen ($12,398 to $16,810).

As for the other models presented by Nissan at the Guangzhou exhibition, the Chinese can also get acquainted to the Nissan Teana and, of course, the star of Nissan's lineup, the electric Leaf.
