Few modern muscle cars have a story as complicated as that of the Dodge Challenger. However, we're not here to talk about the new-age Challenger using bits and pieces from early-2000s Mercedes-Benz models. Instead, we want to show you the extent to which the aftermarket side of the industry has played with the platform of the machine.
The latest example of this comes from the two-door Dodge in the video below, which, according to its owner, holds a modern Mopar record. Come to think of it, such a feat only seems normal if we look under the hood of the speed demon.

The 4.6 6.4-liter HEMI animating the car has been given a twin-turbo makeover, packing a pair of 6766 turbochargers, which sit underneath the car. The V8 now delivers no less than 1,300 ponies, with all the muscle meaning that the driver had to give up the original stick shift configuration of his vehicle.

Instead, the man turned to the GM camp for the tranny, as the Challenger now packs a 4L80-E torque converter unit.

If you happen to be among those who prefer Mustangs, for instance, there's an easy way to dismiss this beast and it has to do with its weight - the Dodge tips the scales at over 4,400 lbs (this is a two-ton car).

Even, the way in which its tech elements are balanced means this Challenger, which currently features a configuration optimized for half-mile runs, can deliver impressive results even when faced with quarter-mile challenges.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page shows the Mopar animal delivering a new personal record for the 1,320 feet run, with the car pulling an 8.8s run.

Perhaps the best part of this Challenger is its tastefully restrained appearance. Heck, given all the muscle the twin-turbo machine packs, we could probably call it a sleeper.
