2030 SAIC YeZ, the Car that Breathes

What you are about to read here can definitely be classified as the spookiest, out of this world and at the same time coolest ideas of recent months. And we all owe Chinese manufacturer SAIC, its partner GM and the Beijing Auto Show for such a thing.

Called YeZ, the car presented at the aforementioned show, is not our everyday electric vehicle, but rather a combination of several technologies.

The YeZ uses photovoltaic conversion, wind energy conversion and CO2 absorption to generate it's power. The wicked looking leaf-like roof is filled with solar cells which, the damnedest thing, can detect the position of the sun and position themselves accordingly for maximum effect.

All the four wheels on the other hand act like mini wind turbines and can be used to capture and convert wind energy into electricity. To resemble a real leaf, the body of the vehicle is made of organic framework elements (hope it doesn't rot when it gets wet).

These elements are used to capture CO2 and, using some type of witchcraft and a a microbial fuel cell, converts it into electricity. To make things even creepier, the car releases... oxygen (for those who haven't got the clue yet, that's similar to photosynthesis). That means the car breaths!

Or, at least, this is the idea. The vehicle is a concept and has no figures to back its alleged capabilities. Yet, the concept in itself and what it is supposed to do is brilliant. So what if it may open the doors, hundreds of years from now (there's no way we see this on the roads by 2030, as the name suggests), for technologies the likes of which we've seen in Lexx, that insane sci-fi series staring an organic spaceship?
