The significance the Chinese market has for American manufacturer GM will be honored in the proper way starting May 1, when GM and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) will present their joint display at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai to the public.
The joint pavilion was presented to the media this weekend, during an event attended by both journalist and Expo 2010 officials. The pavilion has been divided into Pre-Show, Main Show and Post-Show areas and will feature the EN-V, YeZ and Shell. The Shell is, according to SAIC, not only a vehicle, but also a bedroom, office and gym (!). We'll come back on this...
“It is a vision of future driving that is free from petroleum, free from emissions, free from crashes, free from congestion, and at the same time fun and fashionable,” said Kevin Wale, President and Managing Director of the GM China Group. “We are proud to be showcasing solutions that will make this vision a reality at our corporate pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai.”
The Pre-Show area features five areas (Out of Gas, Traffic Jam, Parking Difficulty, Traffic Accident and Difficulty Driving), each displaying the challenges related to economic development and the growing number of cars.
The Main Show, four theaters will be used to play, on 6.5 meters tall and 38 meters wide screens, the movie “2030, Xing!”, a 10 minute production showing GM's and SAIC's vision of an electrified future.
While exiting, visitors will pass through the Post-Show area, where the aforementioned vehicles will be displayed.
