Maserati's newest car for 2014, the Ghibli "baby" sedan, will be unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show in April.
Built to take on the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E Class, the Ghibli will share its underpinnings, including the twin-turbo V6 and V8 engines, with the recently launched Maserati Quattroporte. According to Motortrend, the Ghibli will actually be more of a four-door coupe, in the vein of the Audi A7.
Production of the Ghibli will take place at the former Bertone facility near Turin, Italy, where the Quattroporte is being built. Pricing for the Maserati Ghibli is expected to start at around $75,000.
In case the Ghibli name doesn't sound familiar to you, Maserati used the nameplate for a two-seater GT released in 1967, who used to rival with the Lamborghini Miura and the Ferrari Daytona. The name was resurrected in 1992 as a two-door coupe, which was discontinued after five years.
