BMW is certainly interested in reviving the 5 Series GT, otherwise we wouldn't have been seeing so many camouflaged cars in our latest spyshots. Yesterday we showed you a batch of LCI 5er GTs and today we have a fresh batch.
Launched back in 2010, the biggest 5er ever made was not extremely popular. The heavy back end and the massive feeling on the road made it a somewhat "not-BMW-ish" car. Most people said it was ugly and not practical, as the manufacturer claimed.

Now, along with the mid-life facelift, BMW can try to make up for the mistakes done at the beginning. The new LCI 5 Series will not be too different from the original one, slight changes around the front and rear ends being expected.

However, when it comes to the GT, things will definitely be different. Based on the success and positive feedback the 3er GT received, with its sleeker rear end and the active spoiler, its bigger brother might receive the same treatment.

The heavy camouflage on the essential areas seems to point in that direction anyway. The interior will very much stay the same but you can expect some new optional features to be available on the LCI GT.

As for the engine range, we don't expect too many changes. Maybe we'll get to see a hybrid version and a 530i version.
