Don't worry too much about the buttons though, it's not difficult to go past this. Most of the Quattroporte's interior is covered in materials that go past what German rivals, such as the Porsche Panamera, have to offer. It also seemed like the leather and the nicely textured wood work topped what we’ve seen in
Jaguars.
We're staring at the headliner right now - the transition to the Alcantara is extremely delicate. And the way in which the leather covers those handles is a good argument for the aforementioned Jaguar comparison.
In fact, this Quattroporte is really hard to drive with elegant apparel on. You're always going to be tempted to wear a t-shirt, so that you can feel more of that incredible leather.
The seats are also very tempting and the Quattroporte is that kind of car that can be described by them - there's a nice balance between comfort and lateral support. Grand Touring Association-approved.
The driver is treated with a set of massive instruments, which are easy to read. In between these, sits a very useful, large color display. This can be used for just about any info you need. Respect comes in the form of adjustable pedals and large, handy gear shift paddles for the eight-speed automatic.
When in need of assistance, turn to the
touchscreen display on the center console. The 8.4-inch size and the resolution are a joy, while the menus are intuitive enough. However, we were puzzled by the lack of a QWERTY keyboard for the navigation. By the way, don't try to use this in strong sun, the glare is simply massive.
As for the people sitting in the back, these receive plenty of attention. The aforementioned hefty wheelbase has brought the knee room up and you can choose between a three- and a two-seat configuration.
Even with the massive
rear tables on, there's plenty of space back here. Sinking into the rear seats of a Maserati Quattroporte is an experience to remember. The seats have just the right consistency and that little leather strap for pulling down the center armrest is adorable.
