Zenos, a British sports car maker specialized in lightweight models, has successfully commenced a crowdfunding campaign.
In just three days, Zenos has raised £102,000 pounds of their £750,000 target. The British company revealed the milestone in an exclusive interview with Autocar. Once Zenos secures funding, it will develop the E11 and E12 models.

The two new products from Zenos will reach production earlier than expected thanks to the crowdfunding scheme, which has not yet been completed. Thanks to passionate and generous fans, Zenos will be able to deliver a set of more “road-friendly” cars.

Mark Edwards, company founder and managing director, stated that he was surprised by the result. He claims that allowing customers and fans to invest in the development of new models was the best way to involve them in the process.

Investors were able to contribute between 10 and 50,000 pounds. The latter can award the donor a place in the Zenos design committee. So if you are looking for a quick way to have your say on the development an all-new car, this is the fastest path to accomplishing your dream.

While being driver-focused, both the Zenos E11 and E12 will come with comfort elements, like doors and many other things we take for granted in regular cars. Most likely, Zenos will continue its relationship with Ford on the EcoBoost engine supply deal, so the E11 and E12 will also get engines from the Blue Oval.

Great Britain seems to be the perfect place for designing a lightweight sports car, as many automakers specialized in this field hail from the United Kingdom. Naturally, other makers have emerged in various countries, but the UK seems to be preferred for this kind of automaker.

Curiously, the famous British weather is not friendly to lightweight sports car owners, as most of these models are soft-top convertibles, if they even have a roof at all. Remember the Ariel Atom? It is also a British car, and so is the Caterham range, as well as Lotus models, but we hope you already knew that.
