Yogo, UK’s First Electric Scooter with Removable Battery

Having a battery that can be removed and recharged just like a mobile phone at home or work, the Yogo is expected to meet success on the British market. If conventional electric scooters in the UK have used fixed silicon batteries, Econogo has introduced the UK's first electric scooter that uses a fully detachable and portable lithium battery.

Conventional two-wheelers require the owner to run an extension lead from an electricity socket to the vehicle's integrated battery. This is one of the main advantages brought by Econogo’s Yogo, newcarnet.co.uk reports.

The Yogo scooter can also store a second detachable battery, meaning that it will run for 22 + 22 miles using both batteries. Batteries recharge in one hour, which is far less than conventional models that require 4-8 hours in order to achieve a partial/full charge via an extension lead.

The Econogo Yogo electric scooter is available in two options. The first option is classified as a moped (a 50cc petrol engine with a 27mph capability), while the second, more powerful option is a 1,500W motorcycle with a 38 mph capability.

Owners who passed their driving test before February 2001 can drive the first version without taking the CBT test, and no further qualifications are needed, while for the second version, the equivalent to a 100 cc motorbike, owners will need a CBT licence to drive one.

The new Yogo is available to buy online from www.econogo.co.uk. Both versions have a retail price of £1,999.
