Scout RIDE, Three-Wheeled EV Law Enforcer

A new gadget ("gadget" fits it better than any other word) for law enforcement agencies has been announced this week by Global Motor Services (GMS). Officially an electric scooter on three wheels, the RIDE is dubbed by its maker "the ideal solution for security personnel."

RIDE comes equipped with front and independent rear suspension, high-intensity flashing LED's, and multiple sirens. All these "high-tech" features allows any officer "with a commanding presence and the ability to dominate any tactical situation." (!)

The scooter can be charged in a standard 110v household outlet, with the battery allowing for a total range of 15-20 miles when equipped with the standard lead-acid battery and 35-40 miles with the optional lithium-ion battery.

"The RIDE was unanimously approved 5-0 and will be used for our special events as it significantly enhances our community policing efforts,"
Captain Mike Grandinetti said about the scooter at the International Security Conference & Expo West in Las Vegas.

While all of the above did not manage to impress us, because we can hardly see how an officer would have a "commanding presence" on such a thing, the zero-degree turning radius, the 25 mph top speed and the fact that it can be packed, wrapped and made to fit into an SUV improved its appeal.

"The RIDE's innovative design and environmentally conscious specifications make it the most sought after vehicle for law enforcement," says the over confident GMS.
