The new BMW M4 Convertible isn’t available at the moment, sales starting later on this year. However, everything about the new car was revealed and it’s a beautiful, powerful, amazing piece of machinery.
Up until now, BMW was careful to introduce it to us in a couple of colors, the most notable being the Singapore Grey one used for the initial, launch photo gallery. That car looked impressive, especially due to the combination with the cloudy sky in the background and the red leather inside.

However, aside from the drop top version we’re talking about here, the Germans also released the M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe models earlier and they were dressed in completely unique colors when they came out.

The M4 was wearing the so-called Austin Yellow Metallic paint while the four-door version got its color inspired by the Yas Marina Circuit in the Emirates, an interesting shade of blue. That exact same color will also be available on the drop top version.

One such car was just spotted in Munich, around BMW’s headquarters. Wearing the Yas Marina Blue color, the M4 Convertible was, unfortunately, spied with the roof up.

Since the new M car is quite different from its brothers in this regard, the performance numbers are also a bit altered. If the Coupe will do 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds with the auto 7-speed DCT gearbox, the heavier drop top will be 0.3 seconds slower.

The same difference applies to the manual model too, where the sprint is done with in 4.6 seconds. That’s because the engine is the same (431 HP/550 Nm of torque) but the weight isn’t, due to the roof-folding mechanism.

Even so, the M4 Convertible will surely be the one to pick out of the bunch, unless you plan to track your car. The sensations you get driving with the roof down and enjoying the sound of the engine are way better than having a faster acceleration time. But then again, maybe you’re a racer and want the best. For us, cruising at low speed might be more rewarding than winning a drag race. Prices in the US start at $73,425.
