The new Yamaha Majesty S is a scooter which packs in a quite fashionable styling, solid practicality and even more solid fun. Created for those in search of slightly bigger scooters, and who would rather avoid buying a 49cc two-wheelers, the Majesty S delivers more power, more road worthiness, all for a neat, affordable price.
This machine is easy to handle even when less experienced riders sit behind the bars. An automatic transmission makes sure take-offs and whizzing around the town are a breeze, while hydraulic disc brakes provide solid stopping power. With a 276mm front rotor and a 245mm rear one, the Majesty S should feel quite reassuring. 79mm of travel for the fork and 13” tires are definitely going to offer a smooth ride even on rougher roads, while the precise fuel injection will offer smooth acceleration in all scenarios.
The peak power of 11.9 hp and a max torque of 11.6 Nm (8.5 lb-ft) are fairly decent figures for this liquid-cooled scooter which weighs in at a not-so-feathery 148 kg (327 lbs). No mpg was declared, but with a 7.4-liter (just under 2 US gal) tank, the Majesty S should provide decent range. Position and rear lights are all LED, and the restyling looks quite cool, too. With a hybrid LCD-analog dash, the Yamaha Majesty S is expected in June, for around €3,290 ($4,500) in matte gray, black and white.
