Learning about the imminent debut of the Yamaha MT-25 in Indonesia is definitely not a surprise because this bike was a highly-anticipated move and a natural one for the house of Iwata.
Apparently, the upcoming MT-25 will follow the recipe Yamaha has used with both bigger and smaller bikes that use the same platform for delivering two distinct flavors. The R125 got its MT-125 sibling, and now this quarter-liter machine drops the fairings off the R25.
The MT-25 is expected to bring 36 hp and 22.6Nm (16.6 lb-ft) of torque to the game.
Now, while Indonesian riders and others in that region are thrilled in anticipation, their Western fellows are probably fretting even more. That is because the appearance of the MT-25 is a good sign that Yamaha will also deliver a naked correspondent for the R3!
It appears like it is only a matter of time until Iwata shows more naked goodies for the rest of the world and this is thrilling for both new riders and those in search of an affordable, easy-to-ride, economical bike for commuting.

Waiting for the MT-03/FZ-03 announcement
If Yamaha replicates the strategy, then European markets will receive the MT-03 while the bike will be baptized FZ-03 across the pond. In turn, this means that the new naked two-wheeler has solid chances to be powered by the same 321cc injected parallel twin engine delivering 42 hp at 10,750 revs and 29.6 Nm (21.8 lb-ft) of torque. It appears like it is only a matter of time until Iwata shows more naked goodies for the rest of the world and this is thrilling for both new riders and those in search of an affordable, easy-to-ride, economical bike for commuting.
