The 2024 Mazda MX-5 has made it to the United Kingdom. The updated fourth generation, currently in its eighth year on the market, starts at 28,000 pounds. What do customers get for the money?
The world’s most popular roadster can now be ordered in the United Kingdom. The Mazda MX-5 Miata received design updates inside and out for the first time since the ND generation hit the market, back in 2015, and a new Aero Grey paint is now available for 570 pounds ($720). The head-turning Red Soul Crystal, which can be ordered for 810 pounds ($1,025), is still in the lineup.

The updated Japanese roadster received new LED headlights, now integrating the daytime running lights, and rear lamps with a redesigned layout.

Customers will be able to choose one of the three trim grades available in the range: Prime-Line, Exclusive-Line, and Homura. The base version is powered by the 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine with 130 horsepower (132 metric horsepower).

This one, in roadster form, starts at 28,000 pounds, which is the equivalent of $35,396. Meanwhile, the RF (Retractable Fastback) version kicks off at 29,900 pounds ($37,792). In the United States, the entry-level Mazda MX-5 is $28,985.

Upper in the range, we find the Exclusive-Line, powered by the same engine, starting at 30,000 pounds ($37,941) or, for extra money (32,400 pounds or $40,976), by the 2.0-liter Skyactive-G with 181 horsepower (184 metric horsepower).

Meanwhile, the range-topping Homura grade starts at 34,800 pounds ($44,011) and is exclusively set in motion by the 181-horsepower 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G.

The 2.0-liter-engine-powered Miata gets a front strut brace, an Asymmetric Limited-Slip differential, and Bilstein dampers as standard, all securing the raw driving experience that the model has been famous for, for the 35 years it has been on the market.

Regardless of the engine or trim, Mazda offers a single transmission option: the six-speed manual gearbox with the so-popular short and easy-to-handle gear lever.

Mazda installed a new larger 8.8-inch touchscreen, which controls several functions of the car and displays the navigation, but also an updated instrument panel. USB-C ports have shown up onboard.

The Hiroshima-based carmaker made efforts to leave the character of the roadster unaltered, building a cabin that gravitates around the driver. The Homura grade gets 17-inch alloy wheels and Brembo brake calipers painted in red, while the driver and passenger sit in Recaro seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara.

Mazda encourages extreme driving on the track, offering the new Dynamic Stability Control track driving mode, which allows the DSC to interfere only at the last moment for a more dynamic, yet secure driving experience.

The MX-5 remains the world’s most popular roadster. Since it was unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show in 1989, the model was deleted by 1,256,745 customers worldwide. 135,000 of them set wheels in the United Kingdom.
