We’d be lying if we said we don’t miss seeing The Stig burning proper rubber on the Top Gear track, but the video we just stumbled upon did come as a surprise. It shows the famous character sitting in front of what appears to be a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Seconds after that you can hear the engine start.
“Only seven people have looked The Stig straight in the eyes. They are all dead now.”

We’re not exactly looking the famed character in the eye in this video, but it does feel like one of those stunts the Top Gear trio did back in the day. It’s like you almost expect Jezza to pop up from the passenger seat and ask you all if BBC is better than Amazon Prime. Sure, that’s just a mean joke, but you have to admit The Stig’s unexpected appearance does raise a couple of questions.

Last time we checked, the word in the biz was that the white crusader has no longer a job in the future auto show BBC will eventually relaunch. However, we did hear about The Stig relocation to another of network's programs.

A couple of months ago, we were telling you folks about BBC1’s announcement. They said something about a Saturday night entertainment show called The Getaway Car, with Dermot O’Leary hosting it. The show “will see couples compete in a series of exciting driving challenges that test the limits of their relationships behind the wheel of a car.”

How does this new gig relate to the famous anonymous driver who’d race all the Top Gear guests on each show? Well, according to the British network, “at the centre of the show is the fastest driver of his generation: the enigmatic, the iconic, The Stig”.

Until we find out more about what’s going on, we’ll leave you with this short, yet exciting 360-degree video.
