Compared to the E82 1M Coupe, the F21 M135i might seem like a lesser beast. It's not! Even though the 1M was built with high performance in mind all the way, the M135i is not that far behind.
During our test we saw exactly what the little hatch is capable of and we saw a lot. The best thing about it is that it can be used like a maniac's dream car and as a daily driver too, a quality you rarely find these days.
This Alpine White model, hailing from Indonesia wears the M badge with pride and had some subtle work done. The wheels are now wearing BBS badges, go by the name of CH-R and measure 20 inches in diameter.
With gloss black faces and chromed lips, they are the perfect match for the immaculate white on the body of this beautiful Bimmer.
As for the performance of the beast, it’s yet another thing that recommends it. In RWD guise, the 320 HP beast with some well deserving 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque will do 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds when hooked up to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Go for the manual and that time goes up to 5.1 seconds but it’s still a respectable sprint nonetheless. If you choose xDrive instead of RWD you’ll soon learn that the car accelerates in just 4.7 seconds which is on par with the E92 M3.
Fuel consumption is something to keep in mind as well as turbocharged engines are becoming more and more popular to make sure we don’t deplete the planet’s oil resources too soon. The thirstiest model is the manual M135i with an average fuel consumption of 8.1 l/100 km (29 mpg) according to BMW while the most efficient choice would be the RWD version with 7.6 l/100 km (31 mpg).
