What If Chevrolet Also Produced a Corvette EV-Ray? Would You Buy That to Fight a Tesla?

Currently, the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray – a different kind of hybrid – is making the rounds across the Internet as General Motors has allowed the socialites to express their initial first-drive thoughts on the eAWD matter.
Right after Team Corvette went berserk and fulfilled a lifelong dream of making America's sports car a mid-engine hoot, then it also went for a record-breaking FPC performance with the 670-hp Z06 homologation model, it was rather hard to imagine that anyone also asked for a hybrid 'Vette.

However, the guys and gals are probably taking advantage of every window of opportunity offered by the corner office head honchos – which is also why we are looking at spy shots and videos of a twin-turbo V8 Corvette making the rounds of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in full camouflage as the development for the magnificent ZR1 soldiers on.

As such, no one should wonder why the early reviews for the Corvette E-Ray are pretty enthusiastic. And there's much to like about it, including the price point that's a smudge below the 670-hp Z06 – E-Ray kicks off at $103k while the current flagship starts from over $108k. Sure, it's also a far cry from the ever-more-expensive $66,300 Stingray, but with 655 hp on tap and eAWD, it's also closer to the Z06 than the 495 hp Z51 models.

Naturally, the rumor mill is now diligently watching the developments around the upcoming 800+ horsepower ZR1, and it is also dreaming about the moment when Corvette becomes not just a Ferrari supercar killer but also a Lamborghini (Revuelto) hypercar destroyer with help from the rumored Zora version with a 1,000-horsepower hybrid powerplant.

Interestingly, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is also quite infatuated with the C8 Corvette as they strive to imagine the ZR1 and Zora ahead of time. Not everyone follows along the ICE-powered line, though. For example, the virtual artist tucked behind the AscarissDesign moniker on social media has a big craving for something American and EV - a fully battery-powered Corvette 'EV-Ray.'

Naturally, the pixel master also imagined it as a quick project of a fully electrified Corvette starting from the hybrid Corvette E-Ray. The design, meanwhile, mixes the contemporary styling of the C8 Corvette with styling elements stolen from China's Chevrolet FNR-XE Concept – which, in turn, looked like a futuristic electric Chevy Camaro sedan.

Of course, the CGI expert is quite happy with the way his C8 Chevy Corvette EV-Ray turned out (I would dare say the FNR-XE cues are not exactly what's needed for a sleek Corvette EV), but even he is conscious that it's a long shot to think that General Motors has any plans for a fully electric Corvette anytime soon. However, if you want our two cents on the matter, the Detroit automaker might be forced to reconsider one day – if the Tesla Roadster finally comes out, then perhaps the C9 Corvette will have no alternative but to try and oppose it.
