Webber Does Red Bull Showdown for Thai King

Just before everyone at Red Bull Racing headed for home to enjoy some quality time with family and friends during the Christmas holidays, the Austrian team decided to do one last showcar event to mark the end of the most successful campaign in the squad's history.

After countless such events held in Dubai, Poland, Lithuania, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Italy, Australia and Germany, Red Bull headed for one special and exotic location for their last stop of 2010, Thailand. And it wasn't just any showcar event, as the running was part of the celebrations for His Majesty the King's 83rd birthday.

According to a press released from the newly crowned champions of Formula One, the Running Showcar event was held down Rajdamnoen Avenue on Saturday and the crowd attending it was of no less than... 150,000 people. That easily beats almost any Grand Prix crowd of 2010, while it surely became the largest crowd ever seen in a Red Bull Showcar to date.

And the run in Red Bull's F1 challenger was performed by Mark Webber himself, the 34-year old Aussie who nearly bagged his first F1 title in 2010.

In addition to the Red Bull run, the ceremony included a jazz session to honor the monarch and a parade led by Mark and Thailand's top actresses"Aum" Patcharapa Chaichua and "Ploy" Chermarn Boonyasak, followed by a show by Red Bull Drift Team Thailand, led by 'Kiki' Sak Nana.

The Showcar was displayed at Bangkok's Central Chidlom's Morakot after the day's action,” ended the press release from Red Bull.
