Webber Opens Up Festival of Speed in the RB6

Mark Webber did not get to make a great impression in the title winning Red Bull RB6 back when the 2010 Australian Grand Prix kicked off, in late March. A disappointing 9th place was not what he had in mind at the time. So he decided to wow his Aussie fans once again, at the wheel of the same car, but with less pressure on his shoulders, during the 2010 Festival of Speed in Perth, Australia.

The 34-year old announced his presence in the event last week and proceeded to making his first appearance before a home crowd after his impressive campaign in 2010. He took turns in driving the RB6 with Australia's rising star Daniel Ricciardo on the Wanneroo Raceway.

It's awesome to be back in Australia and it's great to get a Formula One car to this part of the country,” said Webber, according to Red Bull's official website. “I raced at the Wanneroo Raceway in 1994 - it's always been part of the racing scene here. It wasn't a five minute job to get an event like this arranged, so well done to everyone involved.

Red Bull's doing a lot this weekend; I'm out here with Dan and Sebastian's in Berlin. Red Bull Racing's a small team, but it achieves big things - we're doing some cool things this weekend and it's good to be part of it,” said the Australian driver.

Prior to the Sunday drive, Ricciardo took a Demo car for a ride down the Riverside Drive.

“It was one of the coolest Fridays of my life. I recognised a lot of people and think around 80% of the crowd was a family member or friend! I was almost as nervous before the show run as before a race; there’s pressure, as if you make a mistake you can look silly, but as soon the engine fired up and I got my helmet on I felt right back at home.
