Waze has become a must-have solution for modern drivers, allowing them to fight traffic jams and find faster routes to their destinations.
The application has a very advanced routing engine that looks into user reports for incidents that could slow you down while also processing historic traffic patterns and other data collected from other users on the road.

The suggested routes typically include secondary roads and shortcuts you didn't know existed, as Waze's primary goal is to help you arrive at the configured address faster.

Because the found routes don't always use main roads, users have to look at the screen for additional context despite the spoken directions. The highlighted route on the map makes it easier for drivers to figure out where they must make the next turn, especially when driving in unfamiliar regions.

However, the Waze map is becoming very cluttered lately, especially as the company is showing ads – these are typically small icons appearing on the map as points of interest. Eventually, reading street names and other information becomes more difficult.

Some users believe increasing the font size could help, especially if they use reading glasses. A suggestion posted on Waze's feedback platform has already received hundreds of upvotes, as users believe the navigation application should get an option to let them adjust the font size. Indeed, such settings would make it easier for drivers to read the street names and follow the suggested routes, reducing driver distraction significantly.

If drivers can read the information easier, they spend less time looking at the screen, therefore focusing on the road and following the suggested route more conveniently.

However, Waze won't add an option to adjust the font size anytime soon. A member of the Waze team explained in a response to the feedback post that adding such an option "doesn't fit on our roadmap," promising to keep this suggestion in mind for future updates.

In the meantime, the only option to increase the font size and see the information in the UI easier is to enable accessibility settings on your smartphone. Depending on your mobile device, you could zoom in on the interface, so certain information, such as street names, the current speed, and the building numbers, would be easier to read. In general, UI elements are larger on Android than on iPhone, but dedicated options to adjust the font size are needed on both platforms, as well as on Android Auto and CarPlay.

Others believe Waze should also add extra interface refinements, with larger digits that don't use boxes on the main interface. Improving the interface in this regard takes time, but Waze not including these settings on the roadmap means we won't see any such update this year.
