If you're not new to the Waze world, you probably know already that the Google-owned company regularly releases limited-time experiences to celebrate certain events. To do this, Waze provides users with access to special moods, car icons, and navigation voices available only for a limited time.
The latest such update is centered around an extraterrestrial experience inspired by the recent UFO disclosures in the United States.

Like the previous updates, it includes three new moods: Cosmic, Spacey, and Supernova. Waze moods allow users to choose an icon to appear on the map – others can see your mood, though they can't identify you based on this information. As a result, you can enable a special extraterrestrial mood, standing from the gigantic Waze crowd in your location.

The new experience also includes a new car icon called Hover Car. This time, the other Wazers won't see your setting, as the car icon only shows up on the map when you run the app.

Last but not least, this update includes a unique alien voice that'll guide you when turn-by-turn navigation is enabled.

All the new goodies are available in Waze for a limited time. The company did not reveal when it plans to remove them but expect your settings to be restored to the previous configuration by the end of the month.

While some people enjoy these updates, most Waze users are more interested in critical updates aimed at bugs in the app. There are a lot of issues the Google-owned company must fix, but despite some of them becoming widespread, it still doesn'tw seem to be in a rush to resolve them.

One of the more recent glitches affects CarPlay users. The latest Waze update, which shipped in August, breaks down the dark mode on CarPlay, keeping the app to a light visual style all the time. Running the daytime mode at night is often dangerous, as looking at the screen for a couple of seconds could make the driver blind when moving the eyes back on the road. The dark mode can be restored by launching the application on the iPhone, though not everybody knows this, with some users struggling to run Waze at night.

The bug affects all CarPlay users, and despite being a critical problem that needs an urgent patch, Waze sees things differently and takes its time to release the next update. The latest Waze version on iOS landed on August 2, so the bug is already one month old.

If you want to enable the new experience in Waze, you can find it in voice and mood settings within the app. The options are there this month exclusively, after which the application returns to your standard configuration with your chosen mood, navigation voice, and car icon.
