Either this car is stolen or the guy driving it got an incredible deal on Craigslist, but either way, he definitely watched too much Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider as a kid. Rather than a bright orange Dodge Charger or an all-black Pontiac Trans Am, though, he’s tearing up some back roads in a roughed-up C5 Chevrolet Corvette.
On a track, the Corvette can hang with some of the best sports cars from around the world, but this off-road course looks like something more befitting of a Jeep Wrangler or Subaru WRX STI. With its low body and front-engine/rear-drive layout, the Corvette was never designed to most of the driving exhibited in this three-minute video, but it sure does make it look fun.
Even though this Corvette looks about as good as you’d expect to find an off-roading ‘Vette, it still sounds amazing as it drifts through the corners or stops to do some donuts in the dirt. By the end of the video, the Corvette’s design starts to show itself as oversteer almost introduces the car to a massive tree. We’re still not sure why you’d want to play with a Corvette in such a manner, but if you have a beater Corvette at your disposal and access to some winding dirt roads, who are we to judge what is and isn’t fun?
As much as we’d like to know the details about this unfortunate Corvette, we’d much rather find out where this property is and get a WRX STI out there to shoot some real video. Check out the wannabe rally-racing Corvette below.
