Ken Block used the recent Oregon Trail Rally to prove his skills yet again. The standings show that Block finished second, pretty close to the winner. However, what the numbers don’t tell us is that he completed one and a half stages with a... missing wheel.
Block’s Fiesta lost a wheel during the 3rd stage of the rally and since the Rally of America rules state that he couldn’t replace it, he decided to carry on without it.
The driver was either listening to Queen’s “The Show Must Go On” or figured that a DNF would cost more than trying to finish while damaging the car by driving on three wheels. Either way, he completed the rest of the stage, as well as stage 4, with the brake disc on the front right serving as a wheel.
In the end, Block posted a time of 1:48:34.8, amusingly close to the the winner’s (David Higgins) 1:46:47.0. The clip below shows Block's spark-flooded journey, with the spectators providing colorful commentary.
