The experience with Android Auto has been far from flawless lately, but a number of Volkswagen owners have been struggling with one annoying bug for many months already.
As we reported back in May, while Android Auto appears to be working correctly in the Multivan T6.1, the music playback is completely broken in apps like Spotify and Google Music.

And it’s all because of a problem that nobody has managed to figure out, as everything else seems to be running just as expected and only music apps are affected.

A discussion thread on Google’s forums has several users confirming the problem, and while Google is yet to acknowledge this error, the good news is that Volkswagen itself has started looking into the matter.

One user who joined the forums explains they have reached out to Volkswagen and they were told the company forwarded the report to the main headquarters in Germany for a closer inspection.

VW have acknowledged the issue and have raised a report with ‘technical’ at VW in Germany, although ‘technical’ will give no timeframe as to when or even if there'll be a fix,” the user explains.

I'm confident the issue lies with VW and not Google. I'd advise anyone with the issue to take it to their VW dealer and insist the problem is looked into and a report is raised (My dealer called it a ‘DIS Report’). The more who complain, the more likely we'll get a resolution,” they add.

So for the time being, what we know is that Volkswagen is looking into the problem, Google is yet to acknowledge it, and no ETA is provided as to when we could get more information. It goes without saying this isn’t the best news for users impacted by the problem, and in the meantime, nothing else appears to be restoring the music player in the cars where the bug is encountered.
