Following the demise of the Pontiac brand, which took place a decade ago, enthusiasts were left with multiple performance offerings to long for. Well, the Pontiac G6 Coupe, a mid-sized two-door offering with front-wheel drive, isn't necessarily on the list. However, the rendering we have here comes to portray what would've happened if the vehicle had received an extensive facelift.
You can regard the G6 Sedan as the predecessor of the Buick Regal, while the G6 Convertible was replaced by the Buick Cascada (that would be Opel Insignia and Cascada over on the Old Continent). However, as mentioned in the intro, this pixel exercise shows a G6 coup that would've made a few years past 2010. For the record, the Cascada wasn’t exactly a hit, with the model having been axed last year.

And while the more modern approach featured by this rendering may count as a bonus, such a styling exercise can't change the overall profile of the car.

Nevertheless, we can notice visual elements borrowed from contemporary models, such as the headlights, which seem to remind one of the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette.

Then we have the yellow front lip protectors. These come from the world of Mopars: the pieces are supposed to be removed by dealers, but certain drivers prefer to keep them on, despite FCA's best efforts, which include changing the said color to pink.

Oh well, at least the effort, which comes from digital label tuningcarps, also cover the cabin, aiming to deliver more than a simple thought on the matter.

Now, GM knew what a mid-size coupe needed in order to perform, as the GXP.R racing incarnation of the G6 came in rear-wheel-drive form, being animated by a 450 hp LS2 V8, albeit on a tube chassis.

Nevertheless, with the market shifting towards SUVs these days, performance specials included, the chances of seeing a fresh model of the sort, one that would pack the proper kind of go-fast architecture, are pretty close to zero.
