The VW Beetle is a old-school machine with an engine in the back and looks designed by Adolf Hitler. Ups, wrong Beetle. The engine is in the front for the models we buy today, and the styling is designed by... somebody else.
Speaking of engines, two more have been introduced under the bonnet of the VW Beetle in Britain. We’re talking about two entry-level units - a 1.2-liter TSI petrol with 105 PS fitted with a six-speed manual and a 1.6-liter TDI diesel, also with 105 hp, but also offered with DSG.
The Beetle 1.2 TSI is priced from £15,195, while the diesel costs £17,030 for the five-speed manual version.
With this, the Beetle’s petrol engines are three-strong - 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS with manual or DSG gearbox, a 1.4-litre 160 PS with manual transmission and a 2.0-litre 200 PS with manual or DSG gearbox. If you want diesel, it’s either the 1.6 TDI or a bigger 2.0-litre TDI with 140 PS.
