Volkswagen has enhanced the appeal of the Beetle range in the UK market with the addition of two of it most potent engines. Joining the base 1.2 TFSI and 1.4 TSI will be a powerful diesel engine, the 140 PS 2.0-liter TDI diesel.
But perhaps the best newcomer is the engine used by the Beetle Turbo in the States. The same 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol that has been used since the days of the Golf GTI MkV is available, pushing out 200 horsepower through your choice of either a six-speed manual or six-speed dual clutch DSG.
This is enough to push the car from zero to 62 mph in just 7.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 139 mph. The TDI’s main trump card is its economy: 57.6 mpg combined.
The 2.0 TDI is available in either Design or Sport trim levels and will set you back from £20,085, while the 200 PS petrol also comes in combination with the Turbo Black and Turbo Silver special editions with prices starting from £22,295.
