With the XC60 and XC90 being so successful, Volvo was bound to want to enter the compact crossover market, as well. They have thus jacked up the all-new V40 hatchback, to create the V40 Cross Country - their smallest crossover yet.
Looks-wise, its shares a lot of bits with the regular V40, yet rides on taller suspension (40 mm taller, in fact) and has various styling tweaks, designed to give it that rugged appearance that buyers are looking for these days. The interior will also be carried over virtually unchanged, with the possible exception of piece of trim, which may be different.
Engines-wise, again, it will share all of them with the regular V40 - the 1.6-liter ‘T3’ petrol unit, with 150 hp, may not make it into the crossover, though, while the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine will top the range, as it does in the V40. Volvo will show off the V40 Cross Country later this month, at the Paris Motor Show.
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
