The Volkswagen Gol is hugely popular in Brazil, with its compact dimensions, badge and solidity attracting a large following - it is the best-selling car in Brazil for the last 25 years, with 2012 expected to be the 26-th. Now, VW has revealed a two-door version of the latest version of the car, to attract a slightly different clientele.
It also sports a revised fascia, featuring VW’s latest incarnation of their evolutionary design, which sits quite well on the car. Officials have not given many details on what platform the car is based on, but it is related to that used in the SEAT Ibiza and Audi A1 - it is, as its place in the range suggests, mostly a combination of Polo and Golf underneath.

VW currently has a 10% market share in Brazil, a market which is set to grow to around 5-million sales per year, by 2018 - the German brand is keen to capitalize on this. Also, since Brazil is deemed as a ‘developing economy’, VW may also introduce their planned budget sub-brand, to further boost the figure.
