Not to be mistaken with the sporty ‘R’ model, the ‘R-Line’ is nothing more than a mid-level trim for the new, facelifted Passat, with a few touches to set it apart from lesser models.
It gets a new, sportier looking, front bumper, chrome trim on the sills, a boot-mounted spoiler for the sedan and a roof-mounted one for the estate version, as well as a new rear bumper and a few ‘R’ badges scattered around.

The car now sits on 17-inch wheels as standard with optional 18-inch wheels available, and, for a lower stance and improved handling the car now gets 15mm lowered sports-suspension.

The high-quality interior features special fabrics for the seats, some silver trim to catch your eye (on the dashboard and door cards), a leather-clad steering wheel with lots of buttons and sporty-looking pedals finished in a brushed steel texture.

On their home market, the base price for a Passat R-Line Sedan starts at €30,225 ($39.770), while the kit itself, sold separately will set you back €990 ($1305).
