While we in the Northern Hemisphere are doing what Eddard Stark said and bracing ourselves because winter is coming, things are a little different in the opposite land that is Australia. Over there, cycles flow the other way around, so spring is starting right now.
Besides being a great time to buy a cheap new car, springs is apparently also the time mister and misses koala bear get it on and make little koala boys and girls. That's why Volkswagen Australia is offering lower prices until either November 30th or when they start to mate.

Why November 30th? Because in opposite land, that's when spring ends and summer starts. Weird, right?

Classed as "arboreal herbivorous marsupials", koalas are the cutest little creatures you've ever seen. A fully grown adult can grow to 60–85 cm (24–33 in) and weighs 4–15 kg (9–33 lb).

Mating is a tricky business for these marsupials, which is probably why they're not that common. Scientists have observed that females in heat have specific signs, like holding their head back more and displaying spasms. But some males don't notice any of these signs and couple with females that aren't in estrous by force. After a month of gestation, a small embryo is born at only 0.5 g (0.02 oz). How tiny and vulnerable is that?

What does this have to do with Polos, Golfs and Tiguans? Absolutely nothing at all, which is why what Volkswagen has done is that much more funny. They might not mate all that much, but koalas are definitely cute enough to sell cars.
