Volkswagen’s ways of achieving its target to become the world’s No. One carmaker obviously also include the killing of certain models and it seems that the Eos will be one of them.
VW recently launched the Beetle Cabriolet at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, with Klaus Bischoff, who leads VW’s design department, explaining that the Eos will not receive a successor.
“The Eos will not be prolonged when it comes off the market. Retractable hardtops are disappearing from the market now, and to be honest that’s not something I mind,” the designer explained.
Instead of introducing a replacement for the Eos, VW will release a larger convertible. An open-top Passat has been rumored for quite a while now. but the project hasn’t received the green line yet, mainly due to the fact that its introduction would require additional production capacity that needs serious investment, as the carmaker’s current plants are working at full capacity.
