German automaker Volkswagen has released the first official photos of its radical Design Vision GTI Concept, due to be unveiled at the 2013 Worthersee festival this week.
Powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that boasts 503 HP and 413 lb-ft of torque, the beefed up Golf GTI was developed “to give a spectacular glance into the future of the GTI”. Shorter, wider, and lower than a regular VW hot hatch, the concept vehicle has s top speed of 186 mph (299 km/h) and can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standing start in about 3.9 seconds.
This unique “wild racing GTI” effort is different in the cabin as well, sporting carbon fiber and alcantara inserts and a X-shaped cross member that has replaced the back seat for improved overall stiffness.
For the time being, we don’t know wether this Golf on steroids will enter production, but some say it might preview the Volkswagen’s Edition 40 GTI.
