Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK has just announced the arrival of a new flagship pickup truck in the form of the Amarok Atacama special edition. It's named after the flat, barren plateau in South America and can be yours for the measly sum of £26,850.
Why buy this and not a regular version of the Amarok? Because it's packed with goodies, such as bi-xenon headlights with LED accents, Vienna leather, and navigation.

The Atacama covers Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. But the Amarok special edition is just as home in a muddy field or parked on the London high street. The latest model is powered by a Euro 6 compliant 2-liter BiTDI diesel engine producing 180 PS. There are two transmission choices, namely the 6-speed manual with selectable AWD and the expensive 8-speed automatic with permanent AWD.

The price we mentioned above is the basic one. If you include VAT and OTR costs, the recommended retail sticker is up to £35,416.

There are three colors available for you to choose from – Candy White, Horizon Blue and Deep Black. Besides that, the Amarok Atacama is pretty well sorted out. On the outside, it comes with a number of design tweaks that give it a striking look, including black rear styling bars, black rear bumper with integrated step and 19-inch ‘Cantera’ alloy wheels. The load bed features a ‘Durabed’ protective coating, while black foil finish on the B-pillars and ‘Atacama’ side decals complete the design package.

Inside, the Amarok features Vienna leather upholstery, a newly designed leather multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth phone connectivity and Climatronic 2-Zone air conditioning.

If you still have extra money to spend, know that the Amarok can be equipped with accessories that are installed by the dealer. These include towbars, tonneau covers, waterproof seat covers and extra lights.
