Vettel Keeps Red Bull on Top in Hungary

Red Bull Racing remained on top of the timing reports in Hungary on Friday, as German driver Sebastian Vettel stopped the time at 1:20.087 at the end of the 90-minute practice session in the afternoon.

Red Bull and Ferrari resumed their fight in F1 at only a week distance from the German Grand Prix, as the two teams sandwiched each other on top of the classification. Vettel was followed by Hockenheim winner Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) at less than half of second behind, while Mark Webber and Felipe Massa completed the quad of aces.

The aforementioned four drivers were actually the only ones to drop under one minute and 21 seconds on Friday. They were followed by Renault's Vitaly Petrov, who managed some outstanding runs in FP2 to finish more than a tenth of a second ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton. Both racers, however, were more than a second off the pace of Vettel.

Renault secured two spots inside the Top 10 thanks to 7th placed Robert Kubica, while followed by Williams' Nico Hulkenberg and McLaren's Jenson Button. Mercedes' best placed driver in FP2 was Michael Schumacher, in 10th place.

Unlike the first 90 minutes of action on the Hungaroring circuit, this second run was incident-free, aside from some off-track trips every now and then. However, the increased level of grip provided the drivers with better maneuverability throughout the afternoon session. Here are the complete, detailed results from the second practice session:
